Profession: Currently, I am with Software AG in Zurich, Switzerland. As a senior consultant, I am member of the global consulting service department. Since SOA, BPM, BAM and BPA are the main topics I am interested in, these are just the methods I use to help my customers (the federal government of Switzerland and the cantons of Switzerland) understanding their business processes, optimizing them, increasing the quality of their data and, thus, creating value. Science: I wrote my doctoral thesis as part of the workgroup Kast at the Physical Chemistry Dept. of the University of Technology, Darmstadt. Since 2007, I have been given the honour of using the prefix “Dr. rer. nat”. My research was dedicated to computational biology. Briefly, I calculated the time-dependent evolution of biological systems on atomistic scale. Since such kind of calculations are expensive, we could not use ordinary personal computers. Instead, we made use of some IBM P690+ regatta supercomputers at Forschungszentrum Juelich and HHLR Hessen (Thanks to all who made this possible!). The results were analysed using the means of statistical thermodynamic. You may want to refer to my research homepage for further information.Coding: I just love to make use of languages capable of object-oriented grammar. Among my favoured languages are C#/.NET, C++, Java, Javascript and Perl. I am also familiar with Perl, Tcl, Python and Fortran. For further information you may want to check out Ilenvo.Yet, I must admit that I fell in love with Scala, recently. Actually, it is a multi-paradigm programming language, though, it has focused on functional programming, which makes a lot of things easier.Photography: Another hobby of mine, which – in contrast to music – is not pending. Turn your very eyes to the left, roll them to where the word “Photo” is written, and explore. I offer quite a view sites that deal with photography (see menu). My photoblog is dedicated to the art of wide-angle photography. Google offers a free, well equipped photogallery all along with gig of free webspace, so check out my photogallery to enjoy some albums I would like to share with the world. Finally, geotagging and geotrailing, i.e. tagging photos with coordinates determined by GPS is great fun to me. So visit my geotagged pictures at panoramio and my geotrailed trips at everytrail to see how much fun this can be. Posted in | No comments
